[[File: Jack-hanma.png | thumb | frameless | right | 300px | Jack Hanma from Baki the Grappler]] __NOTOC__ '''Jack Hanma''' (ジャック 範馬, ''Jakku Hanma'') is a fictional character from the ''Baki the Grappler'' series. A pitfighter hailing from Canada, Jack is the son of the infamous Yuujirou Hanma and Diane Neil, a Canadian United Nations operative whom Yuujirou encountered during the Vietnam War. Much like his half-brother, Baki Hanma, Jack has harbored a lifelong ambition to surpass his father's legendary strength and martial prowess. Notably, in the English dub of the second anime series, his name is altered to Jack Xamma due to localization issues, pronounced "Zah-mah." === Early Life and Tragic Beginnings === Jack's origin story is steeped in tragedy. His mother, Diane Neil, was assaulted by Yuujirou during a business trip to Canada, leading to Jack's birth. Raised solely by his mother, Jack grew up with a deep-seated hatred for his father and an unyielding drive to defeat him. This dark past fueled his relentless pursuit of strength. === Training and Physical Enhancement === Determined to outdo his brother Baki and confront Yuujirou, Jack undertook extreme training and physical enhancement measures. His regimen included the use of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs, pushing his body to the brink. As a result, Jack grew to an imposing height of over 8 feet, though this came at the cost of severe health complications. === Career Highlights === Jack's prowess is most notably displayed during his participation in the Maximum Tournament. Here, he demonstrated his raw power and fierce determination, battling formidable opponents such as Goki Shibukawa and Katsumi Orochi. Jack's fighting style is a blend of brute strength and unexpected technique, making him a formidable adversary in the ring. One of the most memorable moments in the series is Jack's fight against Baki in the tournament. Despite his overwhelming strength and sheer willpower, Jack was ultimately defeated by his younger half-brother. This loss, however, only served to fuel his resolve to become even stronger. === The Pursuit of Strength === Throughout the series, Jack is portrayed as a character who constantly pushes his limits, always seeking new ways to enhance his strength and challenge more powerful opponents. His relentless quest for power, coupled with the complex dynamics of his family, has made Jack a fan-favorite character in the ''Baki'' universe. Jack embodies the series' core themes of pushing human limits and the relentless pursuit of strength at any cost. His struggle to prove himself and overcome his "impure" heritage, as Yuujirou disdainfully puts it, adds depth to his character and drives much of his development throughout the series. === Ring Name and Alias === In the ring, Jack is known as Jack Hammer (ジャック・ハンマー, ''Jakku Hanmā''). In the fifth manga series, he also earns the moniker "Biting Cyborg" (噛みつき サイボーグ, ''Kamitsuki Saibōgu''), a testament to his ferocious fighting style and relentless aggression. === Legacy and Impact === Jack Hanma's character is a vivid portrayal of the costs and consequences of the unyielding quest for power. His journey is marked by personal sacrifice, intense rivalry, and the unshakeable desire to surpass his father's shadow. Despite the severe physical and psychological toll, Jack's resolve and indomitable spirit continue to captivate fans, making him an enduring figure in the ''Baki'' series.
