Toshira, a local filmmaker, and a long time friend recognized the insignia on the armor as that of the Black Heron. They were then upgraded with a bacteria based artificial intelligence, and the Penguin sent them to kill Bruce Wayne. They were eventually destroyed with the help of Jay Garrick.

Hashi led a team of Black Berets to the Black Heron Castle Island, disguised as stunt men for one of Toshira's movie. The Flash defeated the Samuroids by shorting out their control center. Baron Katana then leaped from the castle into the ocean to escape.
