Professor Goro Watanabe was a Japanese scientist and father of Fujiko Watanabe (Earth-616). It was his scientific equipment that detected the energy signature of the giant robotic dragon called Zoga the Unthinkable. Professor Watanabe along with his his assistant Toru Tarakoto formed Project Delta to deal with this threat.
Unbeknownst to Professor Watanabe, his assistant Toru had created Zoga. Professor Watanabe worked with Iron Man to defeat Zoga and the Monster-Master. Professor Watanabe pleaded to the Japanese Defense Conference about the creature, but this did not work. Professor Watanabe brought the "Parabolic Mirror" that Iron Man used to destroy Zoga.
