The Japanese Pole Vaulters appeared in episode 221 of The Muppet Show. Bob Hope is scheduled to appear at their retirement fundraiser, but with all of his other appearances, he decides it would be easier to invite them to The Muppet Theatre.
According to Of Muppets and Men, Christopher Reeve assisted in performing one of the pole vaulters.
