Muramasa is a legendary swordsmith in Japan whose origins are unknown. He is a member of the Cult of the Black Blade along with Tsuboro and Mei Yin. A master swordsman, Muramasa can forge portions of the spirit and emotions into powerful swords. He is allegedly immortal, and is served by armored samurai-like warriors. In the middle of the 20th century, he was sought out by Logan after his wife, Itsu, and he believed her unborn child as well, were killed in Jasmine Falls. Muramasa agreed to make Logan a sword, forged out of his incredible depths of rage and hatred. The process took many years, but the blade was prepared for Logan when he returned to Muramasa's camp after regaining his full memories after M-Day. Another Muramasa blade caused trouble for Logan in-between these two dates. The Blade of Muramasa wound up in Madripoor while Logan was playing Patch. The evil in the blade corrupted and possessed anyone who wielded it, until the Silver Samurai proved to be a worthy master for the sword, and claimed it as his own.
