Joseph Joestar and Muhammad Avdol explain that the “spirit” is actually his Stand, Star Platinum, awakened because of DIO’s return. 

When Holy falls gravely ill due to her own Stand awakening, Jotaro agrees to travel from Japan to Egypt with Joseph, Avdol, Kakyoin, Polnareff, and Iggy to defeat DIO and save her. 

The journey takes him across Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East, and finally Cairo, matching the way his own heritage crosses borders and cultures. 

Jotaro ultimately confronts DIO in Cairo, using Star Platinum’s precision and time‑stop ability to overcome The World and end the multi‑generation feud that began with Jonathan Joestar. 

In doing so, the half‑Japanese grandson becomes the one who finally closes the loop started by his British great‑great‑grandfather, tying his modern, global identity back to the origin of the Joestar bloodline.

In Part 4, Jotaro appears as an adult marine biologist, visiting the town of Morioh to investigate Stand activity and a mysterious serial killer. 
He acts as a mentor figure to Josuke Higashikata, another Joestar descendant with mixed Japanese and Western heritage, passing on both knowledge and the burden of the family’s strange fate.
