== Growing up biracial in Japan ==

As a teenager, Jotaro is introduced as a tough, aloof ''yankī''‑style delinquent who nonetheless lives what is described as a fairly typical Japanese youth: school uniform, local fights, and a seemingly ordinary life in a Japanese town. 
His biracial heritage is never treated as a gag or a constant talking point, but it quietly shows up in his tall stature, sharper Western facial features, and his mother’s blonde hair and Western mannerisms. 

Because the story centers on Stands and the fight against DIO, his mixed background mostly stays in the background, but the fact that Araki made the “new” JoJo part Japanese after earlier, fully Western Joestars is significant. 
Jotaro becomes a bridge between Japanese readers and a European‑rooted family saga: he is Japanese enough to feel familiar, yet foreign enough in appearance and family history to fit the series’ exotic, international flavor. 

In real‑world terms, Jotaro fits cleanly into a broad ''hāfu'' frame: one Japanese parent, one non‑Japanese parent, growing up in Japan with a mixture of local customs and imported media. 
The manga does not depict overt bullying or discrimination around his background, but his distance from others, “too cool” persona, and the gap between his rough exterior and soft spot for his mother all echo familiar themes in stories about kids who feel like they don’t completely belong.
