== Personality and identity ==

On the surface, Jotaro is stoic, foul‑mouthed, and perpetually annoyed, embodying the archetypal 1980s delinquent schoolboy. 
Underneath that, he is deeply loyal, highly intelligent, and quietly idealistic, risking his life to protect his mother and friends despite pretending not to care. 

His fashion sense and silhouette fuse Japanese and Western elements: a heavily modified school uniform styled more like a long coat, chains and accessories that feel closer to rock or street fashion, and a cap that almost blends into his hair. 
That mash‑up mirrors his own mixed heritage—half Japanese, half Joestar‑European—and makes him instantly readable as both “Japanese kid” and “JoJo” at the same time. 

Later in life, Jotaro becomes a marine biologist and spends extended time overseas, especially in the United States, effectively turning his British–Italian ancestry and Japanese origins into a genuinely global identity. 
By the time of Part 6, he is not just a Japanese delinquent grown up, but a transnational scientist and father whose family ties connect Japan, Europe, and America.
