As with anything involving race and culture there are things that were terrible back in the day, potentially improving over time, and even still problematic in the present day. Everything as all stages is a teachable moment. Part of our mission here at Japanifornia is to call out these issues—sometimes as a trigger warning, other times to just ruthlessly make fun of it, and perhaps most commonly to showcase an opportunity to learn. We love the website [https://tvtropes.org/ TVTropes.org] and we have aligned mostly with their view of the existing tropes relevant to Japan, Japanese America, Nikkei and Japanese Pop Culture. We also try to find a place amongst the broader categories of Asian American and Asian in general. We can always improve, your suggestions are very much appreciated. ==Recommended Additions== * The House Boy * WWII Officer/Soldier Doesn't Know The War Is Over * "Ah, so." * Engrish * [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mako_Mori_test Mako Mori test]
