[[File:Hirohito_(Earth-616).png|right|thumb|300px|Hirohito (Earth-616)]] Emperor Hirohito (Earth-616) is modeled after the real-life Japanese monarch and appeared as a significant wartime antagonist in Timely/Marvel comics. In the Marvel Universe, Hirohito sometimes acts directly and other times as a distant figure orchestrating Axis powers’ efforts. He famously appeared alongside Adolf Hitler and Mussolini, clashed with the Young Allies, and even faced Captain America and Bucky as well as the Sub-Mariner. His published adventures often present him as a mastermind behind plots using agents, mad scientists, and imposters, sometimes as part of exaggerated wartime propaganda. Hirohito was ultimately depicted suffering defeat at the hands of American heroes and enduring public humiliation. Due to Marvel’s Sliding Timescale, Hirohito’s main activities are now considered historical, appearing in flashback and WWII tales, with some written to reference his lasting rule up through the modern day. He was created by Syd Shores and first appeared in U.S.A. Comics #5 (August 1942). * Name: Hirohito * Alias: Emperor Hirohito * Universe: Earth-616 (Marvel Multiverse) * Publisher: Timely/Marvel Comics * First Appearance: U.S.A.
