Dr. Kimiyo Hoshi, aka Doctor Light, an astronomer, a brilliant scientist, medical doctor and the second Doctor Light. She was granted abilities by the Monitor, during the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths, that allow her to control and adsorb a variation of different light energy. She's often been a member of the Justice League. She's the divorced mother of two children, Imako (her daughter) and Yasu (her son). Doctor Kimiyo Hoshi was a prominent astronomer studying the uses of solar power, when she was called away from her studies to examine a cosmic phenomena during the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths. The Monitor, a powerful galactic being with a link to positive matter, orchestrated the events that lead Dr. Hoshi to acquire the ability to control light. Knowing that in order to defeat the Anti-Monitor, the universe would need a helping hand, The Monitor caused an illuminating beam of energy from a large red star to strike Earth. That beam of star light stroke Dr. Hoshi, rendering her unconscious. When she recovered, she learned that she had the ability to control starlight. She would later go on to dawn a costume similar to the criminal, Arthur Light, taking his identity and becoming the new Dr. Light. Despite her predecessor Arthur Light being a super-villain, she acts as a super-hero. Her photonic powers give her control over hard-light constructs. She has been a member of the Birds of Prey, Doom Patrol, the Outsiders and the Justice League. Kimiyo Hoshi was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, first appearing in Crisis on Infinite Earths #4. (1985) Dr. Hoshi appears in 347 issues, making her one of the longest running, and most prolific characters in the Japanese Comic Book Character universe. ==Appearances== Kimiyo Hoshi first appeared in Superman Taschenbuch #54 (1983) * Blue & Gold Vol 1 4 * Dark Crisis Vol 1 1 * Dark Crisis Vol 1 2 * Dark Crisis Vol 1 3 * Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths Vol 1 4 * DC Festival of Heroes: The Asian Superhero Celebration Vol 1 1 * FCBD Dark Crisis Special Edition Vol 1 0 * Forever Evil: A.R.G.U.S. Vol 1 3 * Generations Shattered Vol 1 1 * Heroes in Crisis Vol 1 9 * Justice League Vol 4 71 * Justice League Vol 4 75 * New Super-Man Vol 1 11 * New Super-Man and the Justice League of China Vol 1 23 * Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen Vol 1 2 * Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen Vol 1 3 * Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen Vol 1 4 Good links: * ComicVine * DC Fandom
