Hijiri 'Sam' Sabuki, a Japanese-American and a noted surgeon, he was placed in an internment camp during World War II. From there, an attempt to kidnap him to cure the mutated spy known as Agent Axis resulted in his daughter Gwenny Lou becoming the superhuman Sun Girl.
