J-Pop America Fun Time Now! is a recurring sketch on Saturday Night Live. It involves Michigan State University students Jonathan Cavanaugh "san" (played by Taran Killam) and Rebecca Stern-Markowitz "san" (played by Vanessa Bayer) presenting a campus TV show based on their obsession with, and profound misunderstanding of, Japanese pop culture. Their Japanese studies professor and faculty advisor "Sensei" Mark Kaufman (played by Jason Sudeikis) is less than enthusiastic about the show, pointing out that the hosts aren't speaking actual Japanese and are the worst students in his class. When accused of racism, Jonathan points out his Japanese girlfriend (played by Fred Armisen, who is one-quarter Korean), who communicates only by saying a nervous "Hi".
