Hutsu

Hutsu was a Japanese spy during World War II in the Marvel Universe, known as the “Japanese Sandman.” By 1942, Hutsu led a sleepwalking cult near New York City and developed a special perfume that allowed him to control sleepwalkers and extract secrets—or have them commit acts on his behalf. His mind control led to the court-martial and death of a U.S. Army officer and nearly turned the hero Angel (Thomas Halloway) into an assassin. Hutsu’s plans were foiled when the Angel broke free of his influence, tracked him down, and delivered him to the authorities. Hutsu’s fate after his defeat remains unrecorded, and all his powers were a result of chemicals and hypnosis, not the supernatural.
