Thomas Morita, a.k.a. Kung was a Japanese agent who fought against Wonder Woman and the All-Star Squadron during World War II. Born and raised in Japan, his family moved to the United States in the late twenties. The family struggled during the Great Depression, eventually leaving Thomas alone with his sister, Nancy. Morita traveled to his parents' homeland to train as a samurai. While he was there, his sister was interred, which fueled his hatred for his adopted homeland. As part of his samurai training, he underwent a mystical process that gave him with the power to transform into animals. After his training was complete, he became an agent for Emperor Hirohito. On December 30, 1941, he was sent to assassinate Prime Minister Winston Churchill, which was foiled by Commander Steel. Three months later, on March 4, 1942, Prince Daka sent him, Tsunami and Sumo the Samurai to steal Starman's Gravity Rod from the All-Star Squadron's headquarters. Guardian stopped them, but Kung escaped. In 1943, Kung was tasked to kill General Douglas MacArthur in Washington, D.C.. He was stopped by Wonder Woman, but he again escaped, this time hiding in his sister's home in Chinatown. A second attempt to kill MacArthur at the Brooklyn Navy Yard went awry. Forced to save his sister, Morita fell to his apparent death. Kung survived, and was apprehended by the United States Army. He was then made a deal with the Americans to be returned to Japan and convince Hirohito to surrender. He failed, and after the deadline ran out, Morita found himself in Hiroshima as it was bombed. ===Appearances=== * All-Star Squadron Vol 1 8 (1982.04) * All-Star Squadron Vol 1 9 (1982.05) * All-Star Squadron Vol 1 42 (1985.02) w/ Sumo the Samurai, Tsunami & Prince Daka * All-Star Squadron Vol 1 43 (1985.03) * Crisis on Infinite Earths Vol 1 5 (1985.08) w/ Katana, Sumo the Samurai and Doctor Light * Crisis on Infinite Earths Vol 1 9 (1985.12) * Guns of the Dragon Vol 1 1 (1998.10) * Guns of the Dragon Vol 1 2 (1998.11) * Guns of the Dragon Vol 1 3 (1998.12) * Guns of the Dragon Vol 1 4 (1999.01) * Justice Society of America Vol 3 27 (2009.07) * Justice Society of America Vol 3 28 (2009.08) * Wonder Woman Vol 1 237 (1977.11) * Wonder Woman Vol 1 238 (1977.12)
