Story overview[edit]

In this issue, Colleen Wing continues her personal war against New York’s exploiters, targeting a massage parlor in Chinatown where women are being held as slaves, only to have her rescue attempt abruptly shut down by corrupt or frightened authorities.

Frustrated that the “heroic age” still leaves victims falling through the cracks, she turns to Daredevil—now ruler of the fortress‑temple Shadowland and leader of The Hand—for answers and a path forward.

Daredevil reveals that Colleen’s family has a hidden, blood‑soaked connection to The Hand and offers her power, information about her mother’s death, and command of a new all‑female ninja strike force called The Nail in exchange for serving his brutal vision of justice.

The issue sets up Colleen’s central dilemma for the mini‑series: whether she can use the resources of Shadowland to protect the vulnerable without losing herself to the same darkness that has overtaken Matt Murdock.

Key elements introduced[edit]

  • Colleen Wing’s secret ancestral connection to The Hand and Shadowland.
  • The formation and first appearance of The Nail, an elite group of female assassins drawn from various martial bloodlines.
  • Early hints about the truth behind the death of Colleen’s mother, Azumi “Az” Ozawa, explored further in later issues.
