It was his scientific equipment that detected the energy signature of the giant robotic dragon called [[Zoga | Zoga the Unthinkable]]. Professor Watanabe along with his his assistant [[Monster Master | Toru Tarakoto]] formed Project Delta to deal with this threat.

| Unbeknownst to Professor Watanabe, his assistant Toru had created Zoga. Professor Watanabe worked with Iron Man to defeat Zoga and the Monster-Master. Professor Watanabe pleaded to the Japanese Defense Conference about the creature, but this did not work. Professor Watanabe brought the "Parabolic Mirror" that Iron Man used to destroy Zoga.
