In 1985, Dr. Pepper received the rights to make use of Godzilla’s image in a series of advertisements depicting the Kaiju King’s love of the well-known drink for the corporation’s “Out of the Ordinary”  campaign. New World Pictures released the first American version of Godzilla that same year, thus the partnership.
