Ishiro Tsuburaya, Samurai, and his apparently identical brother Kamikaze were members of the Mutant Liberation Front (MLF). Samurai was part of an MLF squad led by Dragoness to retrieve artifacts pertaining to Apocalypse for their master, Stryfe. They were attacked by Cable during the theft, and were forced to teleport away.[3]

Alongside many of his Mutant Liberation Front teammates, Samurai relocated to the mutant island of Krakoa.

Powers[edit]

  • Enhanced Condition: Samurai has augmented strength, speed, stamina, and endurance.
  • Flight
  • Explosion Generation: He can also speed up the atomic friction between air molecules, letting him give off an explosive charge on impact, he can also detonate the airspace directly surrounding his body, both of which he is immune to.

Notes[edit]

Samurai and Kamikaze were confirmed to be two different characters in the MLF profile in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z hardcover vol. 8. The profile also revealed their true names.

A character named "Samurai" appears in Cable #1 alongside the MLF, but is named "Kamikaze" two pages later, suggesting this is a mistake that wasn't caught at the time of printing. The difference in costumes is shared with Zero and Sumo, who are also wearing unusual costumes. Samurai was never mentioned again until bios became written online- like a writer's error that took a life of its own.
