Destoroyah
Destoroyah (ăăčăăă€ăą, Desutoroia) is a fictional monsterâor more precisely, a colony of monstersâappearing in Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995). Born from microscopic Precambrian organisms reawakened and mutated by the Oxygen Destroyer used to kill the original Godzilla in 1954, Destoroyah is the final antagonist of the Heisei series and one of the most visually menacing creatures in the entire Godzilla franchise. The character is thematically designed as a dark mirror of Godzilla's own originsâa direct product of the weapon that ended the first Godzillaâmaking him the ultimate embodiment of humanity's self-destructive science.
Destoroyah evolves through multiple forms across the film. The micro-organisms first appear as Microscopic forms that tear through a maximum-security prison, then aggregate into crab-like Juvenile forms, before merging into larger Aggregate forms and eventually a winged Flying form. All of these can recombine into the towering Final Form: a massive, demonic creature standing over 120 meters tall, with enormous bat-like wings, a crustacean-like body, a Variable Slicer on his chest that fires a devastating Micro-Oxygen beam, a forked tail capable of draining energy, and two short forward-facing horns on his head. The Final Form is among the largest and most imposing monsters ever featured in a Toho film.
In Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, the creature's various forms wreak havoc before Destoroyah reaches his Final Form and brutally kills Godzilla Juniorâlifting him into the air and dropping him onto Ariake Coliseum before blasting him at point-blank range with a Micro-Oxygen beam. When Godzilla arrives and confronts Destoroyah directly, the JSDF uses cryogenic weapons in a desperate effort to prevent Godzilla's meltdown from becoming a catastrophic explosion. Destoroyah attempts to flee but is shot down by the JSDF's freeze cannons and disintegrates before hitting the ground. He is the only major Heisei-era antagonist that Godzilla does not personally finish off alone.
