Godzilla Dr. Pepper (TV Commercial)
In 1985, Dr. Pepper received the rights to make use of Godzilla’s image in a series of advertisements depicting the Kaiju King’s love of the well-known drink for the corporation’s “Out of the Ordinary” campaign. New World Pictures released the first American version of Godzilla that same year, thus the partnership.
Then Godzilla sees a female monster on her own rampage. He offers her a tree, which she rejects. When he offers her a giant Diet Dr. Pepper, she really likes it. This female monster was named “Newzilla” (after Dr. Pepper’s trademarked announcing withinside the early '80s of being the “New Generation” in smooth drinks).
