Akatora was a powerful criminal who used his long-running hit series about a sympathetic fire-breathing prehistoric monster named Kojiro to conceal his many illegal activities. He had an undisclosed connection to The Hand, and at the direction of The Hand's leader, Akatora was assigned the task of capturing Wolverine's ward, Amiko, and brainwashing her into becoming an assassin.
