Madame Butterfly was a Japanese woman whose true identity was never revealed. Active during World War II in the Quality Universe, she led the Caterpillar Legion and became known as the most dangerous woman in the East. She operated a butterfly-shaped yellow plane and specialized in outmaneuvering the Blackhawk Squadron. Known for her aviation prowess and inventive use of fast-growing fungus, she ultimately chose to kill herself rather than be captured by the Blackhawks. Madame Butterfly first appeared and met her end in Modern Comics #78 (October 1948).
