The Power Puff Girls is an animated series from 2004 which is not explicitly Japanese, but definitely has a good amount of Japanese inspiration. Within the series is a location called Little Tokyo Townsville which is half Japanese, and the spinoff series Powerpuff Girls Z is all Japanese.

- Blossom is the leader of the Powerpuff Girls. She is the most mature and acts as if she were the oldest. She is best known for her intelligence and determination.
- Buttercup is the toughest and goofiest of the Powerpuff Girls. She is best known for her aggressive demeanor, rebelliousness and dislike of "girly" things. She acts as the middle child in her sisters' dynamic.
- Bubbles is the cutest and most emotional of the Powerpuff Girls. She is often the shy and easily scared of her sisters. However, when angry she can be more furious and intense than even Buttercup.
Powerpuff Girls Z[edit]
- Momoko Akatsutsumi (赤堤 ももこ Akatsutsumi Momoko, Blossom in the English dub) primarily known by her hero name Hyper Blossom (ハイパー・ブロッサム Haipā Burossamu), is the first member and self-proclaimed leader of the Powerpuff Girls Z team. Her signature color is pink, and she is represented by hearts.
- Kaoru Matsubara (松原 かおる Matsubara Kaoru, Buttercup in the English dub), primarily known by her hero name Powered Buttercup (パワード・バターカップ Pawādo Batākappu), is the third member of the Powerpuff Girls Z team. She is represented by stars.
- Miyako Gotokuji (豪徳寺 みやこ Gōtokuji Miyako, Bubbles in the English dub), primarily known by her hero name Rolling Bubbles (ローリング・バブルス Rōringu Baburusu), is the second member of the Powerpuff Girls Z team. She is represented by Bubbles.
