Sanctuary of Light
The Sanctuary of Light was built on Mount Fuji in Honshu, Japan by the Followers of the Light who were on Earth to destroy their ancient foe Maur-Kon. They created three robots and selected three pilots to become the Shogun Warriors to face the menace of Maur-Kon and other threats to the Earth. Eventually Maur-Kon got revenge against the Followers, slaying them all and destroying their Sanctuary. Subsequently the Shogun Warriors brought Maur-Kon to justice.
Later, the ruins of the Sanctuary were discovered by adventurer William McLaughlin who uncovered a fourth unfinished robot in the wreckage. He finished building it and dubbed the robot the Samurai Destroyer. He used it for a series of high scale robberies and stored his stolen loot in the ruined Sanctuary, until he was ultimately stopped the Shogun Warriors and the Fantastic Four.
