- "Japanese Boy" is a hit single by Scottish singer Aneka, released in July 1981.
- "Mr. Roboto" is a song by American rock band Styx, released as the lead single from their eleventh studio album, Kilroy Was Here (1983).
- Seiko Matsuda - A popular J-pop singer in Japan, Seiko Matsuda released the song "The Right Combination" in collaboration with Donnie Wahlberg in 1988, which reached number 77 on the Billboard Hot 100.
